i like the sketchyness... it gives it more flair... i'd put some shading on the boots... and probably make the backgrounds less gradiented... it's too smooth compared to the character shading...

I'm not a good CG colorist, and that applies to shading/lighting. That's another thing I'll have to work on, in addition to general anatomy (feet and hands, especially). I kinda like sketchiness, but it just doesn't look professional unless it's inked. But inking takes SO long! I did this a few days ago, when I didn't have an art block:  The boarder looks wrong with the anatomy and all, and he's probably too stiff, even though I used a reference. Well, I can use the "it's just a sketch" excuse here. I tried to draw this owl/penguin thing . . .  . . . just yesterday, and I failed. I mapped out it's shape with an oval and went from there, but it turned out wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks for the comments and critiques! I'm glad summa you like it. (For clarification, no. I did NOT draw that one up there. It's from a game.) |

Yay! Thanks, both of you. I have a weakness for bishojos as well. (Which is why I try to draw them!)
I'm sorry, but I haven't looked at anyone else's art yet. From now on, if you comment on my stuff, I'll be sure to return the favor. I really appreciate all the feedback. Thanks, and I'll be back with more art as soon as I fight off these art blocks.

You drew that girl, Matt? Wow, that's great. I don't draw girls that well, especially their faces. I can only draw ugly-mug guys! Do you have any tips for drawing girls, because eventually I'll have to draw some for my comic. |

A schoolgirl sketch . . .
very nice work... the overall height is good... a total of about 5 head lengths... (it's usually good between 5 to 7 head lengths)... but the skirt is too high... it definitely looks like it's starting above her belly button... if you split your character in 5 head lengths... the top of the skirt should be somewhere between 2.5 - 3 head lengths from the top of the head... right now it's just at a little over 2 head lengths... |
